MINNEAPOLIS, July 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Pentair (NYSE: PNR) today announced
it has named William H. Hernandez to a new seat on the Pentair board of
directors. Hernandez, 53, is senior vice president, Finance, of
PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG), an $8.6 billion manufacturer of protective and
decorative coatings, flat and fabricated glass, continuous-strand fiberglass
products, and chlor-alkali and specialty chemicals. Hernandez, who will stand
for election by shareholders at Pentair's 2002 shareholders' meeting, brings
the number of Pentair board members to 10.
Hernandez joined PPG Industries as controller in 1990, was named vice
president and controller in 1994, and was elected to his current post in 1995.
Previously, Hernandez held group and corporate management posts during
16 years with Borg-Warner Corp., where he was vice president of Finance and
Planning and chief financial officer of Borg-Warner Automotive when he left
for PPG. Earlier, he was associated with Ford Motor Co. A Certified
Management Accountant, Hernandez is a member of The Conference Board Council
of Financial Executives, the CFO Task Force of the Private Sector Council, the
National Association of Accountants, the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Financial
Executives Institute, and the University of Pittsburgh Katz Graduate School of
Business Council of Executive Advisors. Hernandez holds a Bachelor of Science
degree in economics from The University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of
Finance and Commerce and an MBA degree from the Harvard University Graduate
School of Business administration.
