Global Manufacturer Offers Unique Solutions for Sustainable Management of Water Resources
SINGAPORE - June 1, 2014 - Pentair is showcasing its latest innovations and integrated solutions for the reuse, treatment and management of water at Singapore International Water Week (SIWW), June 1 - 5, 2014. The company, a global water, fluid, thermal management and equipment protection partner, has a long history in Singapore of providing technologies in water treatment and management.
"At Pentair, we help customers do more with available water, whether it's filtering drinking water, treating wastewater for reuse or the safe return to the environment, and helping to manage bodies of water," said Dr. Phil Rolchigo, Pentair's Vice President of Technology. "Our work with PUB, Singapore's national water agency, demonstrates how our technologies can help address water challenges, and we are honored to collaborate with PUB on these endeavors."
Pentair Technologies at Work in Singapore
As a land-scarce country with limited water resources, Singapore has long recognized the importance of developing and maximizing its water resources to sustain its economic growth and modern lifestyle of its citizens. One example is the Marina Barrage, a dam built across the 350-meter wide Marina Channel to keep out seawater and boost Singapore's water supply by creating the first reservoir in the city. Beyond these functions, the freshwater lake is also a lifestyle attraction in itself, offering a host of recreational activities for all to enjoy.
Pentair's flood control pumps are utilized in the Marina Barrage to help manage the water level in the freshwater reservoir. Each of these pumps provide a maximum pumping capacity of 40 cubic meters per second, which equates to emptying an Olympic-sized swimming pool in less than a minute.
More recently, Pentair's ultrafiltration (UF) membrane technology was installed in the national water agency PUB's Lower Seletar Waterworks. The facility is PUB's first drinking water treatment facility to use Pentair's inside-out UF membrane filtration system. Compared to traditional filtration processes, UF membranes require a smaller footprint while producing drinking water that meets high drinking water standards.
Water Leaders Summit
Sharing and co-creating innovative water solutions such as these is a focus of SIWW. A pillar event of SIWW is the Water Leaders Summit, which brings together international water leaders to identify and discuss crucial global water issues and solutions. Leading figures, including Pentair's Dr. Rolchigo, will come together to discuss how water players can work with utilities to manage water sustainably, climate change adaptation, and the expanding role of water management in ensuring a liveable and sustainable future.
