Pentair is Proud to Support Fish 2.0 Business Competition to Connect Sustainable Seafood Businesses with Investors, Resources

April 24, 2015

MANCHESTER, United Kingdom - April 24, 2015 - As a global company with the resources, technologies and values to make a positive impact in the world, Pentair is proud to support the Fish 2.0 business competition through the Pentair Foundation. Fish 2.0, which gives sustainable seafood businesses an opportunity to gain visibility, find strategic partners and, ultimately, garner new investments, aligns with Pentair's efforts to help provide reliable and efficient solutions for the global food industry.

Through its work in aquaculture and aquaponics, Pentair is helping a new industry bring healthy food to developing countries, arid climates, and to space-challenged urban centers. It's recirculating aquaculture and aquaponics systems help the world meet its growing need for protein by sustainably producing food with less waste, energy, and water in urban locations unsuitable for traditional farming.

"We believe sustainable aquaculture will play a big role in the future of food production globally," says Bob Miller, Vice President, Pentair Water Quality Systems-Environmental Systems. "We're excited to support the growth of innovation in the sector."

As part of Fish 2.0, Pentair is providing an Open Door Prize of free admission for five Fish 2.0 finalists to one of two workshops to be held in Florida in spring 2016: a four-day Aquaponics Technology and Design workshop or a three-day Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) Technology workshop.

"We're excited to be able to offer these prizes from leaders in the seafood industry," says Fish 2.0 founder Monica Jain. "All of our prizes and sponsorships represent a deep engagement with competition entrants that goes beyond financial support to actively furthering sustainability and fostering business connections that spur industry growth."

Fish 2.0 is open to both established companies and early-stage enterprises. In this year's competition, businesses from around the world will compete for over $180,000 in cash and service prizes, along with direct connections to industry leaders. During the competition finals at Stanford University in November, 36 finalists will present their ideas to investors.

There is no fee to enter the competition; businesses must apply at www.fish20.org by April 27.
